Session 1:  The Science of Sanctification (How to make Kiddush)

Making Kiddush on Friday night is an essential part of most people’s Shabbat experience. Did anyone ever explain to you what it is that you are doing?  I’m going to show you what the ritual of Kiddush does, how it works and thus how to get it right.

Session 2:  The Spiritual Value of Knives

Do you own a knife? It’s likely that you do, but it’s also likely that you don’t really know how to use it or look after it. When I learned shechita, I learned a lot about knives and how they work. In this session, I will show you how to sharpen and maintain the cutting edge of any knife. I will show you how to peel and finely chop an onion in less than 60 seconds, and I will show you how a shochet checks his knife and why. Most importantly, I hope to inspire you to love and respect your knives, and understand how important they are to you.

Session 3:  Chosen People?

Recently I have been looking into the theme of choice, and what the idea of “Chosen People” might mean. I’d like to hear what you think, and share some of the things I have discovered about choice and chosenness.
